Soft Wash Roof Cleaning in Northeast Ohio
MC Pressure Washing cleans roofs throughout Mentor, Painesville, Madison, Concord, and Northeast Ohio using a soft wash process. Low pressure and a cleaning solution remove the black streaks, algae, and moss that build up on shingles, without the damage that a pressure washer wand can do.
What causes black streaks on a roof?
The dark streaks running down many asphalt shingle roofs are not dirt. They are usually algae, which grows well in damp, shaded conditions and spreads across the roof over time. Moss and lichen can follow on the shadiest slopes.
Washing the streaks off with high pressure is the wrong fix: it can knock the protective granules off shingles. Soft washing treats the growth with a cleaning solution and rinses it away gently.
Our roof cleaning process
- Soft wash cleaning solution applied to the roof surface
- Algae, moss, and black streaks treated at the source, not just blasted off
- Low-pressure rinse that protects shingle granules
- Gutters and the areas below the roofline rinsed afterward
Pair it with a house wash
Roof cleaning and house washing are often done together so the whole exterior looks uniform. Ask about both when you request your free estimate.
Roof Cleaning FAQ
Can you pressure wash a shingle roof?
High pressure can strip the protective granules from asphalt shingles, so we do not pressure wash roofs. We soft wash them instead, using a cleaning solution and low pressure to remove algae, moss, and black streaks safely.
What are the black streaks on my roof?
Black streaks on asphalt shingle roofs are usually algae that thrive in damp, shaded conditions. Soft washing treats the algae and rinses it away instead of just scrubbing off the visible stain.
